Özet (EN)
center of the region is the city of Kapan. Zangezur district is bordered by Jibrail and Shusha districts in the east and northeast, Javanshir district in the north, Sharur-Daralayaz and Nakhchivan districts of Yerevan province in the west and southwest, and Iran in the south and southeast along the Araz River. Between 1918 and 1920 Zangezur was incorporated into the short-lived Republic of Armenia. After the Sovietization of Armenia, Zangezur became the main center of resistance against the Bolsheviks. During Sovietization, Zangezur became part of Soviet Armenia, while the other two disputed territories, Nakhchivan and Nagorno-Karabakh, became part of Soviet Azerbaijan. From the beginning of the twentieth century, the Armenians took action to seize Zangezur, and by the end of the century they were able to do so. The strategically important Zangezur region covers the Southwest of Azerbaijan and southeast of Armenia on the Iranian border. The change in the ethnic component of the population of the Zangezur region, the former Turkish-Muslim lands, began in the XIX. started at the beginning of the century. After the signing of the Gulistan (1813) and Turkmenchay (1828) agreements between Russia and Iran, the process of mass migration of Armenians to the Zangezur region began. Only 1300 of the 8249 Armenian families resettled from Iran by the Treaty of Turkmenchay settled in Karabakh and Zangezur, as a result of which the demographic situation in the region underwent serious changes. On July 20, 1921, the Council of People's Commissars of Armenia approved the division of Armenia into 8 counties and 33 districts and administrative regions. On August 31, a new 9th district - the city of Gorus - was established in Zangezur, with the center being the district of Zangezur. Azerbaijan also removed the western region of Zangezur (Gorus, Karakilse, Kafan and Megri regions) from the administrative-territorial division. Thus, Zangezur was divided into two parts, and the western part was united with Armenia. The Zangezur Corridor connects Azerbaijan, as well as China and Central Asia, as well as Armenia, to Europe and the Pacific Ocean socially, economically, geopolitically and geostrategically. The reduction of military and political conflicts in the region will lead to an increase in trade between countries. It will expand the railway network between Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Armenia and Iran and open many trade routes that will take the trade between the Caucasian countries to a new level. With the transformation of Azerbaijan into a Eurasian transportation hub, transportation and railways in the Caucasus region will increase the transit security of the region and create new competition and new opportunities. In this context, of course, the construction and routes of international East-West and North-South transportation corridors and the construction of the oil and gas pipeline system extending from the Caspian Sea to Europe will bring new surprises and increase the importance of the East of Azerbaijan even more. -West and North-South transportation corridors. Located on the historical Silk Road, Azerbaijan has done a lot to become a logistics hub between Europe and Asia. East-West Corridor China's unhindered access to Europe via Central Asia and Azerbaijan will significantly increase trade between them. (eurasian-research, 2020). On February 18, 1929, the Southern Caucasus Central Authority Executive Board took a decision regarding the transfer of the villages of Nüvedi, Ernezir and Tuğut to Armenia. As a result, a 42 km long corridor was established, now known as the "Megri Corridor", which not only cuts off the connection between Nakhchivan and the rest of Azerbaijan, but also provides access to Armenia via Iran. Thus, the Soviet Bolshevik government continued the policy of donating the historical lands of Azerbaijan to the Armenian SSR. The aim here was not only to strengthen Armenia, but also to reduce all road connections with the Turkic world and Azerbaijan. This was a clear indication that the policy followed by Tsar Russia for the sake of geopolitical interests was also followed by the Soviet authorities. In 1988, Armenia, with the help of its international supporters, took the next step by asserting Azerbaijan's territorial claim to the Nagorno-Karabakh region. As a result, the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan resumed. Between the years of 1988-1991, Armenians started the policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis by deporting Azerbaijan from seven settlements in Zangezur Megri region, 11 settlements in Karakilse region, 41 settlements in Kafan region and 4 settlements in Gorus region. In 1991-1994, Armenian armed forces occupied the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan and 7 surrounding regions with the help of foreign forces. Thus, the eastern part of Zangezur, that is, a part of the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Lachin, Gubadli and Zangilan regions was occupied. In these areas, 3347 square kilometers of territory, including 301 Azerbaijani settlements, was brought under the control of the Armenian armed forces and more than 150,000 people were displaced. The Armenians created an artificial barrier between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, as well as Azerbaijan and Turkey, by conquering Zangezur, which has rich ore deposits and is called the Switzerland of the Caucasus. The Armenians ended the occupation thanks to the states that helped them to seize Zangezur in the early twentieth century. As a result of the separation of Zangezur from Azerbaijan to Armenia, the main part of Azerbaijan was separated from Nakhchivan, and the great Turkic world was geographically dispersed. The most obvious example of Turkey's active strategy in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia to further penetrate Russia's backyard and gain an important vote in the Caucasus. The third was an attempt to use it to strengthen his position. The structure of Turkey's political and economic power in a new form can balance many areas of foreign policy. It aims to create regional geopolitics and help the world by turning a new page in Turkish foreign policy and focusing on it, creating economic investment opportunities and linking foreign policies with the national interests of the country. If Turkey's geopolitics can solve the problem of energy lines in Zangezur and Nagorno-Karabakh by cooperating with Russia, energy lines will be established from Central Asia and the Caucasus to Turkey and then transferred to Turkey. I have thanks. I would like to express my gratitude to my advisor, İlhan Oğuz AKDEMİR, who has always been with me throughout the graduate process and supported me at every stage of my studies. While preparing my master's thesis, I stole a lot of time that I should have devoted to my son Amir Ibrahimov. I send my apologies and love. I know that in the future, you will understand me better. I am grateful to Nesife LAĞIMCIOĞLU who helped me shape my maps. My last thanks to my readers and the dear Turkish nation, if a few words have helped, it means that the study has reached its true purpose.
