In this study, the pre-treatment of olive oilmill wastewater by using advanced oxidation methods and effect of pretreated waste water on biogas yield in anaerobic system were investigated. The ozonolytic chemical oxidation results shows that, the most suitable pH for the removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD) from olive oil mill wastewater was determined as 7. The chemical oxygen demand and total organic carbon removal for 150 min were determined as 35.6% and 29.7%, respectively. The most suitable pH for the removal of COD in photo-fenton studies was determined as 3. The chemical oxygen demand and total organic carbon removal for 240 min were determined as 44% and 19.7%, respectively.The ozonolytic degredation products was used for biogas production and 3420 mL of biogas was obtained from 15367 mg/L COD contain ozone pretreated wastewater, while 1251 mL of biogas was produced from 11980 mg /L COD contain Photo-fenton pretreated wastewater. In this study shows that only ozone or only photo-fenton applications are not effective treatment of olive oilmill wastewater but combination of anaerobic procesess were suitable for treatment of olive oilmill wastewater.
