Abstract (EN)

Agri-food supply chains are accountable for providing agricultural products to consumer societies through several activities. As a result, agri-food supply chain management has gained an important role in solving complex problems. This thesis aims to solve an agri-food supply chain problem. Firstly, a systematic literature review on harvest and production planning problems is presented. Initially, previous agri-food supply chain literature reviews are analyzed in order to reveal the research opportunities. After the consideration of the previous literature reviews, a classification scheme is developed to analyze the existed research articles on harvest and production planning problems in the agri-food supply chains. Within the determined review criteria, research articles are examined according to problem scope, model characteristics, and modeling approaches. Harvest and production planning problem of a small producer in the olive oil industry is studied in this thesis. A novel mixed-integer linear programming model is developed to solve an olive oil supply chain network problem. This model determines the harvest and production planning simultaneously in order to maximize producer's profit. A hypothetical case study is applied to demonstrate the applicability of the model. After, an extended version of the model is proposed to examine olive loss in the olive groves which can occur because of the severe climatic conditions. Lastly, sensitivity analysis is presented to indicate critical parameters which can affect the supply network significantly.
