Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’ndeki Mesleki ve Teknik Liselerin Bilgi ve İletişim Dersi Öğretim Programının Öğretmen Görüşlerine Göre Değerlendirilmesi
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the teachers’ perception on information and communication course within the curriculum at vocational and technical high schools in North Cyprus. In this thesis, case study is used as a methodology. In order to gather data, two instruments, questionnaire and semi-structured interviews are used. Considering this perceptions of ınformation and communication teachers on the general properties of the course such as content, teaching learning process and assessment are collected through the use of these two instruments. The quantitative data is analysed by using SPSS program and moreover the semi-structured interviews are analysed by using both content analysis and SPSS program.
Analysis of Student Attitudes towards E-Learning: Case of Computer Science Students’ in Nigeria
The approach of students‟ to new innovations (technologies) signifies the basic aspect that will accustom their stance in respect to e-learning & alertness in utilizing them. Usage of personal computer, network and portable devices (mobile) has captivated the enthusiasm between different students that benefit from it as an educational tool. According to (UNESCO, 2006); the rise in numerous developing countries concerning e-learning where it can conceivably take care of a rising demand for learning and tackle the deterioration of experienced instructors. Moreover, it has been discovered that students‟ attitude and belief towards e-learning is viewed as achievement determinant of imminent e-learning activities. As reported by (El-Gamal & El-Aziz, 2011); by College students in developing countries have differing perspective in connection to e-learning, yet generally their dispositions are sure. Therefore, the research will explicitly analyze the overall attitude of students towards e-learning in Nigeria, in which as a researcher I have highlighted above. In this research, mixed approach is going to be used and as a methodology the researcher will collect and examine data through qualitative and quantitative method; then utilize Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS). Moreover, semi-structured interviews with the students on voluntary basis will be used. Conclusion and suggestions will be presented at the end of the research as a contribution to this field. Students’ Perceptions towards the Effective Use of Web-Based Learning Platform (WBLP) on their Learning Outcomes
Nowadays, computers are the potential deliverers of the educational system, since they can be used for personalizing learning, to design learning according to the learners’ knowledge and needs. Educators’ attention has overtime been attracted by the development of the internet and internet-based computerized learning (i.e e-learning). Academic studies in this area have portrayed that the process of obtaining web technology for the purpose of learning and teaching is quickly becoming an important tool in these fields. In accordance with the latest requirements, many institutions and individuals prefer to provide education/training via the Internet and that has sparked a remarkable rate of increase in web-based education institutions. And therefore, there has been a rise in the usage of personal/informal as well as institutional/formal web-based learning platforms. Therefore, the web, with its wide range of functions, has become such a highly invaluable source and the tool to acquire learning, research development that in all honesty without its learning process. The technological implications and wide use of learning applications of the web that includes a wide array of functions and many unique components are now currently utilized in the development and evaluation of effective web-based learning applications in order to facilitate teaching contents through interactive exercises and multimedia materials. The Effectiveness and Application of the Moodle LMS (Learning Management System) According to the Students’ and Instructors’ Perceptions at the University of Sulaimani, School of Basic Education
The importance of education is not covert for anyone and because of the globalization of the world, all the countries are forced to catch up with the changes needed for this field. Despite the effort of Kurdistan educational system for reducing the technology gap in this country, still many universities in this region are managed traditionally until now. E-learning and LMS are not popular teaching approach in Kurdistan Universities until now. In this study thesis researcher first, develop an efficient and functional LMS system based on Moodle server for the University of Sulaimani in Kurdistan. Then test the proposed system by the instructors and students in that university. This system will be the first proposed LMS in University of Sulaimani, and the perception of instructors and students toward this LMS will be examined. TEPGP Kapsamında Geliştirilen Okul Öncesi Eğitim Programı Hazırlık Sürecinin Uzman Görüşleri Alınarak Değerlendirilmesi
The education program is defined as "the process that includes the behaviors that are aimed to be taught to the individual and the expectations of the society in which the individual lives, to the learner in a planned way through school or out-of-school activities"; It is emphasized that there is a need for an effective program development process for the correct organization and execution of educational programs (Özdemird, 2012; Sapsağlam, 2013; Yakar 2016). With this research, it is aimed to contribute to the future program development process in the TRNC to be more efficient and in line with this purpose, the answer to the question 'Is it possible to improve the pre-school education programs to be prepared in the future in the TRNC compared to the previous program and how can improvements be made by changing what factors?'. As a result of this study in which interview method was used; The need analysis step is not carried out with the equal participation of all stakeholders, the psychological, historical, philosophical and social foundations on which the training programs are shaped can be clearly defined by the program developers, the limitations arising from the past and the period when the program was developed, the time period spent for the preparation process was disconnected and It was revealed that it causes a lack of motivation, that improvements are needed in the program development process rather than the content of the program, and it is believed that the lack of evaluation has a negative effect on the success of the program; for the negative effect on the success of the program are presented as suggestions. Perceptions of Students on the usage of Mobile Phones in Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School: The Case of Eastern Mediterranean University
The significance of learning is not hidden to anyone in today’s world more than ever before. Using the cutting edge technologies to facilitate and expedite education has always been one of the priorities of education authorities. However, the pace at which the authorities make the final decision whether or not allow a new technological gadget in the official curriculum seems to be not fast enough to keep up with the latest trends in society. Therefore, scholars are required to accumulate the needed data so that they are able to ensure the authorities of the efficiency of the new advances in technology. This thesis tries to evaluate the emerging technologies, smart phones in particular, from the perspective of the prime stakeholders i.e. students, who are more often than not, neglected in decision-making processes of education. The researcher attempts to provide appropriate evidence for the education authorities, so that they can make more educated judgments about the future of instructional technologies such as mobile phones. Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde Müzik Öğretmenliği Programı 4. Sınıf Öğretmen Adaylarının Öğretmenlik Mesleğine İlişkin Genel Yeterlilik ve Öz Değerlendirmeleri ve de Öğretmen Yetiştirme Sürecine İlişkin Görüşleri
ÖZ: Bu araştırmanın amacı Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Müzik Öğretmenliği Programı 4.sınıf öğretmen adayı öğrencilerin mesleki yeterlilik öz değerlendirmelerinin ve öğretmen yetiştirme sürecindeki görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmada karma yöntem deseni kullanılmış olup, nitel yöntem olarak yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği ve nicel yöntem olarak 5 li likert tipi ölçek kullanılmıştır. Bu yöntemle 4.sınıf öğrencileri ile likert tipi ölçek uygulanarak veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırmada örneklem olarak tüm 4.sınıf öğrenciyle (toplam on seki kişi) ile çalışılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler araştırmacı tarafından uzman desteği ile içerik analizi ve SPSS 24 programı, Whithey U testi ve Kruskal-Wallies H testi kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Bulgulardan elde edilen bilgiler; okullarda kullanılan psikomotor beceri geliştirme etkinliklerinde eksiklik olduğunu, bu etkinliklerin verimli ve etkili kullanılamadığını, malzeme ve ortam yetersizliğinden kaynaklanan sorunlar nedeniyle müzik dersinin olması gerektiği gibi işlenemediğini göstermektedir.
Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği Lisans Programında 2. Sınıf 'Okul Öncesi Eğitim Programları' Dersi Kapsamında Öğrenci Merkezli Öğretim Programına İlişkin Öğretim Elemanları ve Öğretmen Adaylarının Görüşlerinin İncelenmesi
In this study, it is aimed to examine the opinions of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Primary Education Department Preschool Teacher Teachers and Instructors on the “Pre-School Education Programs” course OOEG 215. In the light of previous studies, it aims to contribute to the literature in terms of quality and quantity. In the quantitative part of the study, the 'Determination of Student-Centered Education Perception and Application Levels Scale of Faculty Members of Education Faculty' and semi-structured interview questions used in the study conducted by Mancır Habib (2014). In the qualitative part of the research, semi-structured interviews were used in order to elicit further details regarding their perceptions and attitudes towards student centered education. With this method, the instructor who gave the Preschool Education Programs course and the teacher candidates who took the course were taken as the whole population of this research study. The data obtained from the questionnaire was analyzed by using SPSS 24 program and the data gathered from the semi-structured interviews were analyzed by using the descriptive analysis. A Case Study of Teachers’ Perceptions on Blended Learning Approach in Computer Engineering Courses at Eastern Mediterranean University
Despite the fact that research endorses the blended learning methodology as a way to manifest and engage learners, research also enclosure the prevailing doubt with instructors when it comes to enclosing technology. Few teachers are utilizing the tools. Structured by connectivism and social constructivism theories, this qualitative case study intent on teachers’ views of blended learning, its persuade on their teaching practices, and how they perceive that it helps learners in learning process. The leading research questions addressed the successes and challenges of blended learning, including how Moodle was used for formative e-assessment. Data were gathered from 14 deliberately chosen teachers by semi-structured interviews per teacher. Open end built ordinary themes during the data analysis. Findings show that these teachers believe that blended learning assists engagement, cooperation, selfregulation and student-centered learning. While they concurred that blended learning approach assisted their practice, challenges were indicated suchlike learners disengaging in the learning process, tools and framework affairs, and the interval to merge technology effectively. In accordance with these findings, professional management needs to plot to improve teacher pedagogy for utilizing blended learning. This study may assist as an example for administration from other institutes who are integrating technologies and train learners to be global citizens with the obligatory 21st century abilities.
Inadequate Facilities of ICT Equipment’s in Nigerian Secondary Schools: Case Study in Ado Odo Ota Local Government, Ogun State, Nigeria
Despite of the many new technologies design for education to fit in the 21st Century advancement for use in schools, for effective learning and teaching, some schools administrators still find it difficult in making available to their students the required ICT equipment’s. This thesis proposed to find out the availability or non-availability of ICT equipment’s in some selected state secondary schools in Ado Odo Ota Local Government, Ogun State, Nigeria. To achieve this, thesis adopted the use of administered questionnaires and a semi-structured interview in getting required data’s from the students within the Junior and senior secondary class structure of the selected school. The questionnaire was in three segments, finding out the availability of the ICT equipment’s, how the teachers use ICT and its benefits to students and the community at large. Based on the results that will be retrieved from the data gathered, the researcher will analyze and draw conclusion to the subject matter. Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler Dersinde Öğrenci Merkezli Öğretim Yaklaşımının Uygulanmasına İlişkin Görüşleri
ÖZ: Bu araştırmanın amacı, KKTC Gazimağusa ilçesinde bulunan ortaokullarda öğrenim gören öğrencilerin sosyal bilgiler derslerinde yürütülen öğrenci merkezli öğretime yönelik görüş ve tutumlarını ortaya çıkarmak ve öğrenci merkezli öğretimin ortaokullarda ne derece etkin bir şekilde kullanıldığını ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmanın çalışma evreni 2014-1015 eğitim-öğretim yılında Gazimağusa ilçesinde Türk Maarif Koleji, Canbulat Özgürlük Ortaokulu ve Çanakkale Ortaokulu‟nda öğrenim gören 426 ortaokul 2. sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın veri toplama aşamasının nicel ayağında ölçek, nitel ayağında ise yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği olmak üzere iki tür veri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen nicel verileri analiz etmede SPSS T-TEST, ANOVA, MANOVA ve LSD analizi kullanılmıştı ve Ölçekten elde edilen veriler SPSS programına girilmiştir. Analizler uzman kişi eşliğinde yapılmıştır. Nitel veri analizinde ise içerik analizi kullanılmış ve görüşmelerden elde edilen veriler kategorileştirilip, temalara ayrılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda öğrencilerin, sınıf içi ve sınıf dışı etkinliklerde yeterince aktif olmadığı, grup çalışmaları ve grupla yapılan etkinliklere yeterince yer verilmediği, genellikle öğretmenin aktif roller üslendiği ve ders anlatma yöntemlerinden sunuş yolu kullanıldığı, geleneksel yöntem ve tekniklerin baskın olduğu, öğrenci merkezli öğretimin yeterli seviyede kullanılmadığı elde edilen verilere göre anlaşılmaktadır.
Instructors’ and Students’ Perception on the Use and Effectiveness of the Suggested Online Exam System: The Case of University of Sulaimani, School of Humanities
In recent years, Information Communication Technology (ICT) has grown rapidly in each day. Many governments in developed countries are already used these tools in their educational systems. To provide higher quality education in 21st century, countries like Kurdistan newly started to use ICT tools in their higher education institutes. Due to the spread of network applications and central e-learning systems in schools and universities such as University of Sulaimani, instructors’ and students’ perception on the use and effectiveness of the suggested online exam system at the School of Humanities is a tremendous need in order to improve and fulfill the current system. In this thesis, the researcher developed an online examination system which can completely replace the traditional method and would be a beneficial for the university, academic staff and students.
An Investigation of Students’ Perspectives on Flipped Classroom Method as a Type of Blended MOOC Model at the Department of English Language Teaching at Eastern Mediterranean University
Nowadays, learning methods are changing rapidly with growing technology. Over the recent years, MOOC plays an important role in e-learning and higher-education because it can create opportunities for thousands of students to participate in free higher-education online. In online pedagogy, MOOC are recent phenomena beginning in 2008. Since that early beginning, MOOCs developed rapidly, becoming a global phenomenon. In this research, the researcher investigated the researcher will investigate the flipped classroom as the most important part of blended MOOC model. This research will find out the existing problems and advantages by using flipped classroom method. Solving the problems can enhance the efficiency of instruction and it will help students to have a better learning experiences. It might increase students‟ motivation, active participation and success in their courses.
A Case Study of a German Language Learning Perceptions of Learners’ on Android Systems at the School of Foreign Languages, Eastern Mediterranean University
At the present time, with the advancement of technology in mobile phones and tablets which have equipped people with mobile computers, and also because of students’ preferences for convenient and low cost approach of learning, the idea of using mobile applications for educational purposes is gradually getting stronger. Hence, it is essential to investigate about the benefits and drawbacks of using applications in education and develop this idea in order to improve and prosper the future of pedagogy and expand it beyond classrooms. The aim of this research is to analyze the viewpoint of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) students, who are registered to the German Language Learning course (ELT502) which is given by the School of Foreign Languages. In this research, quantitative approach is used and the required data was gathered through questionnaires which were responded by the students of the School of Foreign Languages and has been analyzed by SPSS 24. The results of this research illustrated that students were satisfied by using this type of education and are willing to utilize it again in order to improve their language learning skills. Along with the results, this research has provided some recommendations like applying the efficient methods in M-Learning in order to improve the learners’ language learning process. Çok-kültürlü Eğitim Bağlamında Akademisyen ve Öğretmen Adaylarının Çok-kültürlü Eğitime İlişkin Görüşlerinin İncelenmes
ÖZ:Bu çalışmanın amacı; 2020-2021 Eğitim öğretim yılında Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nde Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi eğitim bilimlerinde öğrenim gören son sınıf öğretmen adayları ve tam zamanlı görev yapan akademisyenlerin öğrenme ortamlarındaki çok-kültürlü eğitime ilişkin görüşlerinin alınarak bir durum tespiti yapmaktır. Araştırmadan önce, yapılmış diğer çalışmaların da yol göstericiliğiyle, alan yazına katkı sağlamaktır. Temel araştırmada durum saptaması yapılmıştır. Araştırmada karma yöntem uygulanmış, nicel araştırma aracı olarak, Hasan Aydın ve Fadime Damgacı’nın (2013) senesinde yapılan çalışmada kullandıkları ‘Çok-Kültürlü Eğitim Tutum Ölçeği’ ve nitel araştırma aracı olarak da yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme soruları tekniği uygulanmıştır. Bu bağlamda 88 öğrenci 41 akademisyenle çalışılmıştır. Anketle toplanan veriler, SPSS 24 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme soruları için ise betimsel analiz tekniği uygulanmıştır. Yapılan araştırma sonucunda nicel ve nitel veriler doğrultusunda öğretmen adaylarının ve akademisyenlerin çok kültürlü eğitime ilişkin yaklaşımları olumlu ve uygulanması taraftarı oldukları yönündedir. A Case Study of Perceptions of Students using ICT as an Educational Tool in Private Secondary School in Famagusta, North Cyprus
In this research the perceptions of the students’ in the secondary (Class 8) private school (Doğa College) has been investigated on the uses of ICT tools in learning and teachings contexts. At the beginning of the research, in order to grasp the general perception of students a questionnaire had been given to them. Then for an in depth understanding, semistructured interviews had been carried out randomly. The analysis of the questionnaire had been done with the support of an expertise and the semi-structured interviews had been analysed by using contents analysis by the researcher. In the education field today, the uses of technology to supports all sorts of learning and teachings becoming more and more relevant because for teachers it help them to save time for the preparation of their lessons (time consuming one of the findings in this research) and for students lessons become more colorful (this is one of the findings in this research). Finally the results from this research reflected that ICT tools are effective for learning and teaching. Further suggestions by the researcher has been made at the end of this research. A Case Study of Teachers use of Instructional Methods in Online Learning at Eastern Mediterranean University
Online learning that is defined as instruction delivered on a computer through the use of internet has been a part of educational revolution. Therefore, considering teaching methods, which teachers use for online courses, is very significant. Teaching methods specify the quality of instruction and it‟s important to consider which methods have already been implemented and how we as teachers can improve and change these methods in order to have a high quality and more effective online education. In this research, the researcher investigated the existing teaching methods for two online courses which are Banking and Finance Master‟s program and Hotel Management Master‟s program. The purpose of this research is to promote online programs in EMU by altering the existing teaching methods.
