Research of the relationship between the mother attachment styles of 05-06 aged children and social competence and behavior

In this study, it is aimed to investigate mother attachment styles of 5-6 aged children and also their social competence and behavior. It has been researched whether the style of attachment to the mother is effective in predicting the social competence and behavior of the 05-06 aged children; If so, it has been also researched how it is effective by using different demographic features. In this context, the study was carried out between May 2020 and June 2020 with 345 mothers living in the cities of Istanbul, Mersin, Balıkesir and Adıyaman between May 2020 and June 2020. Socio-Demographic Information Form, Three Dimensional Attachment Styles Scale, Social Competency and Behavior Assessment-30 Scale (SYDD-30) have been used as data collection tools in this research. The collected datawithin the scope of the research has been analyzed using the SPSS-22 software program and it has been tried to find answers to the questions of the research. Within the scope of the research, it has discussed the relationship between the attachment styles of children in the age of 05-06 and their social competence and behavior. According to the research findings; 47.8% of the children in the age group 05-06 are girls and 52.2% are boys. 64.1% child care was provided byparents, 20.0% by grandmothers and 15.9% babysitter. While 8.7% of the children experienced a medical problem, 91.3% did not have a medical problem. 56.8% of the participants adapted to the school quickly, 32.8% of them adapted medium pace and 10.4% had difficulty to adapt to school.According to the research findings;It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between total score of social competence-behavior and anger-aggression and anxiety-intention, and secure attachment, avoidant attachment, and anxious-indecisive attachment styles of children in the age of 05-06.
