Abstract (EN)
Many invasive procedures performed on pediatric patients cause pain in children. Application methods and duration of invasive procedures are important factors affecting the child's pain. This study was conducted to determine the effect of simultaneous and sequential vaccination methods on pain level in children under 1 year old. The research was carried out as a randomized controlled experimental study with 110 children under the age of 1 in Koç University Hospital Pediatrics Polyclinic between September 01, 2021 and November 15, 2021. Equal number of children were randomly distributed into two groups determined by computer-assisted randomization method. The first group; children who received simultaneous vaccination, the second group; consisted of children who received sequential timed vaccination. The pain level of the children was obtained by the observing nurse using the 'FLACC PainScale'. When the findings are evaluated; While there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in the pre-procedural pain levels (Simultaneous: 0,61±1,35 / Sequential: 0,73±0,93) (p>0.05), the pain during the procedure in the simultaneous vaccination application level is lower than the sequential vaccine administration (Simultaneous: 5,89±1.86 / Sequential: 6,96±2,23 (p<0.05). When the pain levels after the procedure were compared according to the groups; no statistically significant difference was found (Simultaneous: 5,8±1,86 / Sequential: 5,84±3,16) (p>0.05) As a result; Simultaneous vaccination in children under the age of 1 causes less pain.
