Socio-economic and religious profiles of women who opposed the July 15 coup attempt

This thesis aims to systematically make it understandable the facts such as women, coup, social resistance and the relationship between these phenomena in the context of 15 Temmuz. For this purpose, firstly the coups in Turkish political life literature were examined and the most appropriate theoretical approach was adopted. This study which discusses the 15 July coup attemp as a social event, the July 15 coup attempt was dealt with from the perspective of sociology of religion. This study aims to investigate the motivations which tempted women to go outside on the night of 15 July. The results of the study show that women's motivations were affected by religious and national values. Which types of roles women undertake during reaction is aimed to understand and explain from the sociological perspective within the scope of the field research.
