Abstract (EN)

In this research, the effect and role of gender perception and belief in sexual myths on the attitudes of individuals between the ages of 18 and 45 towards dating violence; gender, education level, parents' education levels, etc. it is discussed whether it differs according to demographic variables such as. 465 people participated in the study and 29 people who did not meet the exclusion criteria were removed from the data set. In this regard, the data of 436 people (290 women, 146 men) who participated in the research were examined. "Sociodemographic Information Form", "Sexual Myths Scale", "Gender Perception Scale" and "Attitude Scale towards Dating Violence" were applied to the participants. SPSS 26.0 package software was used to analyze the data obtained from the scales. In examining the relationships between sociodemographic variables and individuals' attitudes towards dating violence, gender perception and belief in sexual myths, independent sample ttest was used for comparison of pairs, and one-way ANOVA was used for comparisons with variables containing more than two groups. Post-Hoc Scheffe test was used to examine the variables between which significant differences were detected as a result of ANOVA analysis. Pearson correlation was applied to examine the relationship between attitudes towards dating violence, gender perception and sexual myths, and multiple regression analysis was applied to examine the predictive relationship between the variables with a correlation. According to the findings of the study, significant differences were detected between sociodemographic variables such as gender, education level, employment status, marital status, attitude towards dating violence, gender perception and sexual myths scores. According to the correlation findings, a negative and significant relationship was found between the scores of the sub-dimensions of attitudes towards dating violence and attitudes towards dating violence and the scores of gender perception scores, sexual myths and sexual myths sub-dimensions. According to the findings of multiple regression analysis, it was concluded that the total score of gender perception and sexual myths positively and significantly predicted the total score of attitudes towards dating violence. The findings obtained in the research were evaluated within the framework of the literature. To the best of our knowledge, the current study is the first to examine the relationship between attitudes towards dating violence, gender perception, and sexual myths, and suggestions are also provided for future research.
