Agricultural production in Chuquorova district in the second half century

Doctoral Thesis Agricultural Production in Chuquorova District in the Second Half Century Hilmi Fırat University Institute of Social Sciences The Department of History Elazığ- 2005, Pace IX+ Chuqurova District is one of the most important agricultural areas. Here, the way agricultural develops also contitutes an important of agricultural reforms in Empire period. In this area agriculture's development begins with the reforms which started in 19th. Century. This study has been made in order to follow both the development of agriculture in Chuqurova district specially and the general agricultural reforms which were made in Empire period. The area which is known as Chuqurova is a large area which covers the Antioch (Amik Ovası) Osmaniya (Jabal-i Barakat), Sis, Kars-i Zu'1-Qadriyya and Tharsus and İç -il in the west. It is in the South of Anatolia having Adana is its center. The areas that Sayhan and Jayhan rivers water have a wide agricultural capacity. In this study, with Tanzimat being agricultural and formal diffrences states politics about agriculture encouragement of the state have been discussed. Then agricultural development in all areas including firstly Amik Ovası the agricultural capacities of these areas, their products, amount of the products, imports and exportation situation were analyzed. Also taking subjects like new forming techniques, machinery using, credit possiblities, research was made with and entirety. Although it is out of the study's boundaries, in order to follow the continuity of the subject, agricultural development in the area and followin general Exchange in the first years of republic, even in 1950s were analyzed.
