Socialist realist poetry in 1960-1980 and its subject matter

This concept claims that literary works must be used to achieve a purpose. Established first in the Soviet Union in 1934, Socialist reality aims at educating people and depicts an ideal person necessary for attaining an ideal society. Optimist point of view, positive character concept, educational purpose, public mirroring, critical approach followed by constructiveoffers for a solution can be mentioned as the main features of sociaSocialist reality can be defined as a concept list reality.These subjects have become the starting point of analysing the socialist-realist poetry of 1960-80s. Related texts have been studied under the titles of mentality, form, theme, discourse and unity. In the present study, the most movement representative poetries of Ataol Behramoglu, Ismet Özel, Nihat Behram, Süreyya Berfe, Egemen Berköz, Özkan Mert, GültenAkın, Yasar Miraç, Ahmet Telli, Basaran, Hasan Hüseyin, Refik Durbas were analysed. Moreover, Ahmed Arif, Hasan Izzettin Dinamo and Ömer Faruk Toprak?s poetry were included as they are regarded as the representatives of the socialist realism in 1940. In order to convey the socialist realistic approach of the selected poets and to support the text analysis the following journals of the era were used as resources: Dönemeç, Ant, Birikim, Varlık, Türkiye Yazıları, Sanat Emegi, Halkın Dostları, Militan, Yordam, Yeni Edebiyat, Güney, Soyut, Yeni Adımlar. The main focus of the present project on the era of 1960-80 was determined by Turkey´s political, cultural and social changes.
