Abstract (EN)

This postgraduate thesis analyzes the work of 20th century artists who have used photographic images in the contemporary painting art.The thesis includes; a short history of photography and its place in the daily life and furthermore, its effect on the other art disciplines, to be able to get a broader understanding of the relationship among the art and the photography of 1st half of the 20th century contemporary painting art.Many contemporary artworks producing artists, especially post-1990, in Turkey, produced their designs by use of photographic images on canvas and/or directly by photographs and, video images. Moreover, it is clear that this trend has increased recently, which in turn makes it a necessity to reveal and base with conceptual art.The conducted researches shows that the art movements developing since the beginning of 20th Century, the relations between photographs and art, and ways of perception and interpreting the reality of photographs are determined by the effect of cultural and industrial progresses. It is clear that perceiving the reality, interpreting it following the invention of photographs and ways of use it in drawing art have undergone significant changes.
