Turkish cinema in 2000's political environment

This study presents how the emerging economic, cultural and social developments in 2000's political environment in Turkey reflect on 2000's Turkish cinema in the context of ideology. Accordingly, it is focused how changes and developments of 2000's policies experienced by the Turkish society correspond to Turkish film examples selected out of those made in the same years. With the related field work, power conflict in the domestic politics of Turkey in 2000's is clarified referring to the concepts of "center" and "periphery" put forth by Şerif Mardin, and with French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu's concepts of "field" and "capital", current developments and affairs are discussed. Films selected out of a great number of films made in 2000's in Turkey are included into sampling by purposive sampling technique according to the fact that they should be directors' debut. In Findings and Comments, tracks of 2000's developments are kept through the films Çekmeköy Underground, Zerre, Babamın Sesi, Zenne ve Çoğunluk included into sampling applying to the ideological and sociological discourse analyses under the light of Bourdieu's three capital forms, "economic", "cultural" and "social".
