2008-2009 the research of the birth in neonatology department

AbstractWeight,length and head circumference measurements of babies are the methods of observation of the growth and nutrition in intrauterin life.There are some standart development norms which WHO suggests or some lokal norms of the same people has that estimate the development and the growth of fetus.There is probably that estimate of the intauterin growth of baby by count up ponderal indeks and ultrasonographic physical examination or Metcoff?s clinic scor system.Aims:In this study we looked that birth weight,length and head circumference and ponderal indeks of term-preterm and postterm newborn in Bilim University,constitute the percantil of term newborn,the ratio of SGA newborn,the distribution of the blood-group of the newborn and compare with the mean of the blood-group in Turkey.Methods:This study was performed on 472 male and 491 female infants who were born at the Istanbul Bilim University the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the Department of Neonatology, between January 2008 and December 2009. Two hundred sixteen normal spontan birth,seven hundred and ten cesarean were done.37 were twin,889 were one baby.758 of these infants were full-term, 119 were preterm and 6 were postterm.Results:The arithmetic means±standard deviation (SD) of weight, height, head circumference and ponderal index was found to be, 3244± 1174 gram,50,7±5,8 cm, 34.8±3.4 cm ve 2,4 respectively.Mean mother age were 31 9 and the blood-group distribution is like that:%36,1?i A rh(+),%31,6 O rh(+), %15,6 B rh(+),%7,1 AB rh(+),%5?i Arh(-),%3 O rh(-),%1?i B rh(-),%0,6 AB rh(-) .Conclusion:The mean birth weight, height, head circumference and ponderal index of males were higher than those of females (p<0.05, p<0.01, p<0.001, respectively). The result of the distribution of blood-group in our hospital?s newborns is like the Turkey?s blood-group distribution .Key words:weight,length,head circumference,ponderal indeks,blood-group of newborn,SGA.
