To examine illustration and text relation on textbook for the children between 6-8 ages and application specimen

Aim of this research is to "examine the illustration-text relationship in the textbooks for children aged 6-8 in terms of graphic design" and to make an "application specimen" in this context. In order to accomplish this aim, the literature review and qualitative interviewing techniques were used in the general screening models. Reading books is among the routines of the everyday life of man and the high rate of reading is known as the most important indicator of the reading culture of societies. The level of reading literacy in adult individuals varies depending on whether they use their academic achievements in their everyday lives, but this is somewhat different in children. As children are influenced by their environment and have knowledge and skills in their childhood, their reading cultures vary according to their parents and other people. In order for children to have a reading culture, many applications can be made and the content and visual design of the books are important. Visual design needs to appeal to age groups so that books can be linked to children, children can touch the world of imagination, and children can wake up reading requests. Children between the ages of 6 and 8 are just beginning to read. In books prepared for them, it is very important to be able to describe the pictures adequately, to be able to wake up excitement in paintings, to appeal to their age group, and to choose the right colors. However, another element that increases the desire for reading in children between the ages of 6 and 8 is, of course, an arrangement in terms of graphic design. Although illustrations communicate strongly with children, the preparation of an ideal design in terms of harmony between illustration and text, the provision of fluency and integrity between pages or pages, increases the interest to read. In the study, some specific findings were obtained in the books prepared for children between the ages of 6 and 8, in the context of the necessity of the appropriate textual design, the correct writing character preference and the correct typographic order to illustrate the necessity of illustrations in the texts of the illustrations and to appeal to children to read books and read books. an application example was prepared taking into consideration the opinions of experts in the findings obtained in the research.
