A study analysis of family relationship between 7-11 age special required students through picture analysis: Sultangazi case

In this study, pictures of children with special needs (7-11 years) and the role and importance of pictures in explaining their inner worlds were investigated Importance of the research; It is very difficult to make children talk about their mental situations that they live in.Moreover, when it is a child with special needs to get to talk, it is obvious that this will be more difficult.This study was prepared on the idea that games and artistic work would be a good expression tool for students with special needs who have difficulties expressing their feelings verbally. The study was conducted on 121 students with special needs between the ages of 7-11. For the study, inclusive students from Farm of Atatürk Primary School, İstiklal Primary School and Mehmetçik Primary School in Sultangazi district of İstanbul were selected. Students were asked to draw a family painting by giving to their families "Family Information Form' and to themselves, ' Child Information Form' and 'Draw a Family Painting Instructions. Codes, sub-themes and themes were created by subjecting content analysis of the obtained data.It was presented by making tables with the finished paintings. As a result of the study in the family paintings; smoke from the chimney, the intensity of the paper used, the position where the child placed among the family figures, the person not drawn in the family, intensity of the colour or colours used and the presence of the sun figure, were examined and the data obtained in the child information form were evaluated.In conclusion of the evaluations; It was determined that children with special needs, experienced psychological processes just like normal development children and have difficulties in expressing them.For this reason, it will be possible to obtain the data from the students who have difficulties in expressing themselves or who are closed to communication, by making them draw paintings on the designated subject.However, it should not be forgotten that the data obtained from the painting analysis is not accurate and must be used with other data acquisition tools.
