Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out with 34 (19 girls -15 boys) basketball players with an average age of 15.06±1.01 at Adil Sani Konukoğlu Sports High School in Gaziantep. The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between scapula position and upper extremity strength, power and balance in adolescent basketball players. In the study, after the sociodemographic information of the cases was obtained, Lateral Scapula Glide Test (LSKT) and Visual Scapular Movement Evaluation (VSME) were applied to evaluate the scapula position, Healthy Ball Throwing Test was applied to evaluate upper extremity strength, Upper Extremity Y-Balance Test and SWAY balance mobile application were applied to evaluate balance. Power Track Manual Muscle Tester device was used to evaluate scapula isometric muscle strength. Data were analyzed with IBM SPSS Statistics 22 program. According to the findings of the study, there was no significant correlation between the VSME, Ball Throwing Test, Muscle Strength Test and SWAY balance mobile application scores (p>0.05). There was no correlation between VSME and all muscle balance test scores except the left inferolateral Y Balance Test (p>0.05). Significant correlations were found between all values of the LSKT test and the overhead throw of the Ball Throwing Test (p<0.01). There was also a significant correlation between LSKT 45 and 90 degrees and the chest level throw of the ball throwing test (p<0.05). It was determined that there was a significant difference between LSKT 0 degree and Y balance test right medial and between LSKT 90 degrees and Y Balance Test right superolateral (p<0.01). A significant correlation was found between LSST 45 degrees and Y Balance Test right medial, right superolateral and left medial (p<0.05). It was determined that there was a significant correlation between LSKT 90 degrees and the strength of the right and left upper trapezius and SWAY balance mobile application scores (p<0.05). The results of the study showed that there was a positive relation between scapula position and some parameters of upper extremity power, balance and muscle strength in adolescent basketball players. It was thought that examining the relationship of scapula position with strength, power and balance factors that can affect performance in basketball players during adolescence is important in terms of improving performance and taking measures to prevent injuries, and our study will guide future studies.
