Examination of the cabled communication network for smart city applications

Among these technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a promising paradigm that connects various devices and systems to enable intelligent data-driven decision. In particular, the integration of IoT with cable infrastructure networks has a significant potential to create advanced urban environments. This thesis aims to investigate the impact, challenges and future aspects of the creation of an IoT-based cable infrastructure network in contemporary cities. The research has adopted a comprehensive approach, covering a comprehensive literature review, case studies and performance evaluation. The literature review provides an in-depth study of IoT and its applications in urban contexts. It forms the theoretical basis by analyzing existing research on IoT-based cable infrastructure networks in cities, identifying gaps and unresolved problems. The dissertation explores the real-world applications of IoT-based cable infrastructure networks through case studies conducted in various urban environments. Case studies include data collection through research, followed by data analysis using quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings shed light on the practical aspects of embedding IoT technologies in cable infrastructure networks and their impact on urban services and quality of life. The performance evaluation of IoT-based cable infrastructure networks focuses on basic criteria such as reliability, scalability, security and efficiency. By evaluating these parameters, the dissertation provides insight into the effectiveness of these networks in addressing urban challenges and meeting the needs of contemporary cities.
