Abstract (EN)

The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between multiple-choice and performance-based measures of Visual Working Memory (VWM) subtest of the Anadolu-Sak Intelligence Scale (ASIS) and the psychometric properties of the performance-based measure. First, the performance-based measure was created based on the original multiple-choice form of the VWM subtest. Participants included 228 first- and second-grade students who were attending an elementary school in the city of Eskişehir in Turkey. The ASIS and the performance-based VWM were administered to students individually during their regular school time. The findings indicated that there was a statistically significant difference between reliability coefficients of multiple-choice and performance-based measures of the VWM. Besides, the performance-based measure of the VWM had higher correlations with the other 5 subtests of the ASIS than the multiple-choice measure. The findings imply that the performance-based VWM had better psychometric properties than the original multiple-choice subtest.
