Inscriptions in mosques and masjids between the 12th and 19th centuries In Altındağ District In Ankara

Ankara is an ancient city that has hosted many civilizations in its history. Two years after the 1071 Malazgirt Victory, the city, which came under the rule of the Seljuks in 1073, turned into an Islamic city with its masjids and mosques. It is seen that the structures bearing the traces of the old periods in Ankara are concentrated in the castle and its surroundings, especially in the Altındağ region. Roman period structures, Anatolian Seljuk State and Ottoman Period structures are frequently encountered here. In this study, mosques and masjids built in 12-19th centuries in Altındağ district of Ankara, the capital of Turkey in which different civilizations have lived since the ancient times, are discussed. Calligraphy has an important place in the decoration of religious buildings, and considering this situation, the mosques and masjids in this study have been examined in terms of calligraphy. With this study, it is aimed to determine the current status of the mosques and masjids in question and to deal with the calligraphy in detail, especially in the mihrab, minbar, and inscriptions in these structures. The writings used in different areas in the decoration of these mosques and masjids are also within the scope of the study. The general features of these articles were mentioned and information was given about the content of the articles supported by photographs and drawings. In this study, archival documents, current sources, photographs and drawings have been used.
