Abstract (EN)
Evaluation of Clinical Branch Doctors Working in Ankara City Hospital, Violence Exposure to Physician and Solution Suggestions Introduction: Violence in health is an increasing condition in our country and all over the world and has a negative effect on all health personnel. Although there are a lot of trial about this issue in many provinces of Turkey, there isn't any current data about this issue in Ankara where is the capital city of Turkey and the health capital of the Middle East. This study aims to analyze the experience of the physicians, who working Ankara City Hospital which is the Turkey's biggest hospital, these issues and to explore their views on possible solutions. Material and Method: The study is a cross-sectional study conducted between September 2019 and January 2020 by distributing a questionnaire to doctors working in Ankara City Hospital. 308 questionnaire forms were included in the study. Results: The median age of the physicians participating in the study was 29 (IQR: 9), the median duration of study was 4 years (IQR: 10), the female gender rate was 62,3%, the rate of physicians working in surgical units was 31,4% 85,1% of the physicians who participated in the survey stated that they experienced verbal, physical or physical and verbal violence.When the characteristics of physicians who were exposed to violence and not, were compared in terms of age, working time, gender and the department studied. According to our findings, the rate of physicians who have more than 50 patients per day is higher (p: 0,02). The most common cause of violence was seen as intolerance to waiting. In our study, most of the physicians who experienced violence (46,6%) did not make any complaints. The most important reason for this is shown as not believing that results will be obtained. (30,8%). The biggest reason for increasing violence in health is seen as health policies (88,8%). The most important step to prevent violence is to take legal measures (93,8%). Discussion and Conclusion: When we compare our study with other literature data in our country, the rate of violence that doctors are exposed to was higher in our study. This shows that the rates of violence are increasing. The most common reason for this situation, which occurs in the opinion of doctors, is seen as health policies. (88,8%) The most important step to take as a solution is seen as taking adequate legal measures (93,8%). Our study is the first study on this subject in Ankara City Hospital.
