Abstract (EN)

OBJECTIVE: In recent years, parameters which obtained from the complete bloud count (CBC) have been used in the determination of the activity and prognosis of various rheumatic diseases, malignancies and diseases associated with inflamattion. In this study, we aimed to examine the relationship of values such as MPV, NLR, PLR with disease acitivity in AS patients. METHOD: 60 AS patients and 19 healthy volunteers were included in this study. Hemogram samples were taken from all participitans and NLR, PLR, MPV values calculated. Sedimentation and CRP levels were evaluated in AS patients. In AS patiets we used Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score (BASDAI) for scoring disease activity. The data obtained were compared with AS patients and the control group in terms of MPV, NLR and PLR values; in AS patients the correlation between BASDAI and MPV, NLR, PLR, Sedimentation and CRP values was examined. RESULTS: The mean age of patients with AS was 37.9±9.6, the mean age of control group was 40.3±9.4, and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p=0.367). There were 28 (%48.7) females and 32 (%53.3) males in the AS patient group, 9 (%47.4) females and 10 (%52.6) males in the control group; there was no statistically significant difference in gender distribution between the two groups (p=0.957). The mean MPV value in patients with AS was 8.6±0.9 and 8.9±1.0 in the control group, and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p=0.176). The mean NLR value in patients with AS was 1.7±0.9 and 1.6±0.7 in the control group, and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p=0.886). The mean of PLR in patients with AS was 111.4±66.3, and 108.1±30.3 in the control group, and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p=0.289). No statistically significant (p > 0.05) correlation was observed between BASDAI score and Sedimentation, CRP, NLR, PLR and MPV values. CONCLUSİON: There was no statistically significant difference between AS patients and control group in terms of MPV, NLR and PLR values. In AS patients, no statistically significant correlation was observed between BASDAI score and Sedimentation, CRP, NLR, PLR and MPV values.
