Abstract (EN)

In this study, attitudes and behaviours of households in different income groups (1-5000 TL, 5001-10000 TL and 10001 TL and over) in the central districts of Antalya Province (Konyaaltı, Kepez, Muratpaşa, Döşemealtı) were analysed. The data were obtained by face to face questionnaire and 384 people were interviewed. The data were analysed by using Chi square and Logistic Regression analysis in SPSS 22.0 package program. As a result of the study, the average household size was 2.9 people. The reasons why families prefer food outside the home: deliciousness (54.40%), having a good time with friends (48.20%), desiring to eat in different environments (46.90%), preference of children (36.70%), being economical (34.10%), high nutritional value (30.20%) and personal habit (13.80%). According to the Chi-square analysis, a statistically significant difference was found between the income of the consumers and the mother's decision-making in out-of-home food consumption. As the income group increases, the awareness of the mother's out-of-home food consumption increases, so the mother is effective in decision-making. It was found that there was no statistically significant difference between the status of the individuals who participated in the survey and their income level in the family. According to the results of Pearson Chi-square analysis, it was concluded that the fact that eating regularly at home was not statistically significant. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the factors affecting the consumption of out-of-home food among consumers interviewed in the research area. According to the results of the analysis, total income variable was determined as the factor affecting out-of-home food consumption. It shows that if total income increases, out-of-home food consumption's ratio will increase. In addition, the marital status of the consumers was directly related to their eating habits and it was found that singles prefer to consume more out-of-home food than married people. Gender was an important factor in out-of-home food consumption. It was concluded that women are more likely to have in out-of-home food consumption than men. Status of finding out-of-home food healthy was also found to be effective in out-of-home food consumption.
