Huruf al-jarr in the Arabic language and their effect on verses of rulings: A Jassas example

Since it is the language of the Qur'an, Arabic is one of the languages with high importance among both Muslims and non-Muslims. It plays an important role in understanding the Qur'an and its religious decrees in an authentic way. Therefore, extensive studies and research have been made on this language from the early period of Islam to the present day. Regarding this context, in this study, Huruf al-Jarr, which is one of the important topics of the Arabic language and one of the sub-titles of the Nahw science, were discussed, and the effects of Huruf al-Jarr on the verses of rulings in the work of Abu Bakr al-Jassas named Ahkam al-Qur'an have been examined. Firstly, the fundamental characteristics and the usage of Huruf al-Jarr in Arabic Language and Literature have been referred to, then the technicality of verses of rulings have been discussed within the view of Al-Jassas' work Ahkam al-Qur'an. Al-Jassas' view on the effects of the Huruf al-Jarr on the meaning, and then the thoughts of different commentators and fiqh scholars have been included, and to conclude, a general evaluation has been made. This study consists of an introduction, two sections and one conclusion. In the first chapter, the place and importance of Huruf al-Jarr in the Arabic language, their use in sentences and their meanings have been discussed. In the second part, general information about Abu Bakr al-Jassas has been given, and his work Ahkam al-Qur'an and the effects of Huruf al-Jarr on meaning in the verses of rulings have been examined. In the conclusion part, the main points obtained as a result of the study have been mentioned. Key words: Arabic, Nahw, Huruf al-Jarr, Abu Bakr Al-Jassas, Ahkam al-Qur'an
