Music culture in the period of the Asian Hun State

The Asian Hun State has an important place in terms of being the first Turkish state established in Turkistan. Turkish art was born in this period when political and cultural unity was achieved with the Asian Huns. Music is an important art in understanding history and culture. Therefore, the music culture of the Asian Hun State sheds light on Turkish history. During the period of the Asian Huns; Turkish folk music, Turkish folk dances, Turkish military music and Turkish religious music gained Turkish identity. The Asian Hun State, which had an army-nation understanding, was a state with a military character, and the first folk songs of the Huns were formed from epics and heroism. It was determined that the folk songs gained a national and official form during the Asian Hun period and had a sacred structure. Turkish military music differs from the music of other societies in terms of importance, meaning, music and performance, and it is seen that the use of music was at the forefront in the Asian Hun period, especially in the army and war, diplomacy, hunting ceremonies, feasts, assemblies (in Turkish "toys"), in short, in state administration. During the period of the Asian Huns, the first examples of Turkish folk dances such as "halay", "bar" and "zeybek" were encountered and these dances were named as "Hun Halayı", "Hun Barı" and "Hun Zeybegi". Another artistic activity identified in the Asian Huns was the choir. It was concluded that Turkish folk music was performed in the performing arts identified during the Huns period. There is no evidence of the existence of Turkish art music during the Asian Huns period. The instruments used during the Asian Huns period formed the basis of Turkish folk instruments. It has been determined that there has not been a comprehensive study on the Asian Huns period, where the foundations of Turkish music were laid. Therefore, this study was conducted using "survey-compilation" and "content analysis" from qualitative research methods and the music culture of the Asian Hun State period was tried to be handled as much as possible by working in cooperation with history, music, literature, archaeology and folklore disciplines. The music culture of the Asian Hun State period has an important place in the enlightenment of the music of the common Turkic world, especially today's Turkish music, and in the understanding of world music.
