Abstract (EN)
The media defined as a part of social life affects and contributes to life in many aspects. The status of mass media as the fourth power and an observer in the name of the public, enabling development and establishment of democracy, has a significant role in terms of realization of objectivity in media acts.Being aware of the potential of media in providing information, raising awareness of the public and forming public opinion, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk followed his own principles despite the political structure of the period, and his courage and faith enabled survival and restructuring of a society. Maintaining his perseverance and determination despite opposition of the government, Mustafa Kemal did not ignore the support of media which is described as the fourth power.Atatürk`s first concrete attempts on the issue were during the period of his education at Military Academy. One of the famous statesmen in diplomacy and policy at the age of Turkish National Struggle and Revolution was Ali Fethi Okyar, a close colleague of Atatürk.The journal called Minber, issued by Ali Fethi & Mustafa Kemal lights the way for political and social structure of those years, just like many other media. Misty and dark details of the National Struggle age in which Atatürk lived is enlightened through Minber, the first journal issued by Atatürk, which allows access to correct and upright comments relating to that period. We have seen within the framework of our research that many articles have been written in the newspaper of Minber, in the name of "proving information and increasing the awareness of the public."This newspaper which have not honored by the public that it deserved, demonstrates once more that Mustafa Kemal and his friends set their hearts on and worked most willingly for the Turkish nation. Under the light of the reality of the sentence of ?The Truth is understood ultimately? it is possible to say that time justified Mustafa Kemal and his friends.
