Risk assesssment within the scope of occupational health and safety Atatürk Farm Dairy Factory

An adequate and balanced diet is the intake and use of nutrients necessary for the living being to live a healthy and productive life in the body. Milk and dairy products are a food substance rich in protein, vitamins and other components. The enormous increase in population numbers and the limitation of food resources led to the development of the food industry branch and therefore to the increase of machine use. No matter how much industry and technology develops, the producer is always human. A momentary inattention of the manufacturer can cause irreversible material and moral damage, primarily to themselves, other employees, their families, as well as to the employer and production lines. Food sector has become one of the important branches of industry focused on occupational health and safety in recent years. Inattention at work sometimes occurs as near-irreversible events, sometimes as irreversible accidents at work and occupational diseases. In order to minimize the number and cost of accidents at work and occupational diseases, processes must be well defined, their hazards must be determined, risk assessment must be carried out realistically, and outputs must be applied decisively. In this study, risk assessment analysis was carried out at ATATÜRK'S heritage and Atatürk Forest Farm Dairy Factory, Ankara's first industrial milk processing plant. The Risk assessment aims to create a healthier and safer working environment to protect employees against accidents at work and occupational patients. First, workplace hazards were identified and the risks associated with these hazards were evaluated using the 5*5 L Matrix method. In addition, employees were trained and evaluated on basic concepts related to occupational health and Safety, Occupational Health and safety management, risk management and risk assessment. With this study, necessary measures were taken to eliminate the hazards related to 269 hazards identified within the scope of occupational health and safety in the production units of Atatürk Forest Farm Dairy Factory and necessary actions were taken to put them into practice.
