Abstract (EN)

The migration phenomenon is as old as human history. There are several factors, which push people to migrate. Migration takes place as a result of economic, political and social developments. In the world that has entered a new structuring with the globalization process that emerged after industrialization, the concept of migration has also changed and migration increased in number over time. In recent years, the flow of immigrants to Europe has dramatically increased as a result of political struggles in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and in particular Syria. This migration and the subsequent influx of refugees are one of the major themes covered by the cinema. After the Second World War, the growing immigrant population in Europe and the fact that this population is engaged in cinema activities required the category of immigration cinema to be considered. In this study, immigration and immigrant cinema, which has not been explained by the national cinema paradigm, are evaluated over transnational cinema and immigrant cinema literature, and attempts are made to look at the phenomenon of illegal immigration, which cannot be neglected in our age, from a realistic cinema perspective. Thusly, the study found that European directors have developed a similar perspective to the recent crisis in illegal migration, refugee and asylum seekers.
