Determination of the level of knowledge about urinary tract infections of aydin Adnan Menderes University intensive care staff

Purpose: To determine the level of knowledge of the personnel working in the intensive care unit on the prevention of urinary system infections. Materials and Methods: The research was planned and carried out as a descriptive study. The universe of the study consisted of all personnel (100 people) working in Aydın Adnan Menderes University Intensive Care Units. After informing about the purpose of the study, a questionnaire consisting of 29 questions was applied to the participants who volunteered to participate, by face-to-face interview method. While evaluating the research data, one of the descriptive statistical methods; mean and standard deviation, number and percentage were used. Results: It was determined that 77% of the personnel participating in the study did not receive training on urinary system infections. 83.3% of the questions asked to determine the level of knowledge about urinary system infections gave correct answers. Conclusion: In the prevention of nosocomial infections, caregivers should know and apply infection precautions very well. If the necessary precautions are not taken in the applications related to the urinary system in the intensive care units where the patient density is increasing; These infections are known to increase. Due to this situation, it is necessary to increase the number of personnel, to plan the necessary trainings and to give them to the personnel, and to create the physical conditions and conditions.
