Examination of ancient cities in Aydın in terms of sports history and culture

The aim of the research is to investigate the values left by the civilizations that lived in Aydın province in terms of sports history and culture and to reveal with their architectural features their contributions to the social life of the period. In order to put forward this aim, a broad literature review was conducted to make a historical, political, sociological and institutional analysis of the ancient cities of Aydın province, which have not been emphasized much in terms of ancient sports facilities. In addition, this research is also very important in terms of revealing the rich history of civilizations of Aydın province with its sports dimension. Because it is very important for the research to provide information about the lifestyles, sociological phenomena, urbanization understanding, social living spaces and urban architecture of the civilizations established in the region in the historical period. This research is a qualitative study based on written sources, historical documents, documents, personal interviews, visual documents related to our subject and scientific research. The population and sample of the research consist of 24 historical ancient cities within the borders of Aydın province. Purposive sampling method and easily accessible sampling method were used in the sampling of the research. In this research, in which the ancient cities within the borders of Aydın province were examined in terms of sports history and culture, a literature review was conducted and access to written and visual documentation on the subject was provided in printed and digital media. For this, books, magazines and pictures were consulted.
