Abstract (EN)
Midwives constitute the prominent labour force in healthcare services. One of the factors that effect midwives? responsibilities is their satisfaction with their profession. Job satisfaction includes a worker?s contentment with his/her job and his/her positive emotional state. A good midwifery service can be achieved by improving the job satisfaction of midwives. The aim of the study is to determine the job satisfaction level of midwives, working in the centrum of Balıkesir and the factors that effect it. This cross-sectional and analytic research has been carried out in 17 primary health care facilities, 4 secondary health care facilities totaly in 21 health corporations situated in the centrum of Balıkesir. 428 midwives have composed the population of research. Inıtıally, the proportion of midwives working in primary and secondary health care facilities to the total population of midwives, and then the number of midwives in these corporations that would be taken as an example, has been determined. At least 279 midwives out of 428 have been determined in the range of %25.0 frequency, %3.0 rate of error, %95.0 confidence level. In the election of sample, stratified modeling has been used. After that, the people and their spares that constitute the sample has been determined from the each corporation by using random chart of numbers. The variables in research are; socio-demographic, economic, case at health, proficiency at job and job satisfaction. In the determination of the job satisfaction of midwives, Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) has been used. In terms of the scores, gained from MSQ, slices in ¼ have been created. The highest %25 part has been determined as credentials category and those who were in this %25 part have been grouped ?with high job satisfaction level?, those in the second and third parts( %50) have been grouped ?with moderate job satisfaction level?, and others who were in the lowest part(%25) have been grouped ?with low job satisfaction level?. In statistical analysis, the diversity in the average of scores among groups has been tested with ?t?test and when the obtained ?p?value was found lower than 0.05, the diversity was accepted to be meaningful. Obtained results have demonstrated that a big proportion of midwives? job satisfaction is moderate. The job satisfaction level scores of midwives who are working in the secondary health care facilities corporations, who are single-widow or divorced, who smoke 11 or more cigarettes per day, who don?t take a part in the service of midwifery in corporation she is working with, who don?t use the midwifery information she got before graduation, who didn?t choose the job with her own will, who are working 45 hours in a week, who are on guard ceaselessy(both day and night), who are working with 21 or more people in department, who face some threats or kinds of brutal force from their patients or relatives, and who face some threats from his/her colleagues, has been found out to be low in a meaningful way.Key words: Midwives, job satisfaction level, factors effecting job satisfaction
