Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine to what extent gender, age, perceived organizational support, work alienation, parental approach, and burnout predict inertia in physical education teachers. This study employed a descriptive, correlational, non-experimental research design. In this research, the inertia of physical education teachers was considered the predicted variable, and gender, age, perceived organizational support, alienation from work, parental approach, and burnout were considered the predictive variables. The population of the study consisted of 576 physical education teachers working in 329 secondary schools and 324 physical education teachers working in 159 high schools in Mersin Province in the 2021–2022 academic year. The research aimed to reach the entire population without using any sampling methods. A total of 900 physical education teachers were reached, and 637 volunteer physical education teachers comprised the sample of the research. The Personal Information Form, the Inertia Scale, the Survey of Perceived Organizational Support, the Parental Approach Scale, the Work Alienation Scale, and the Burnout Scale were used to collect data in the study. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data to reveal to what extent inertia in physical education teachers was predicted by gender, age, perceived organizational support, alienation from work, parental approach, and burnout perception level. According to the research findings, when the significance levels of each variable in the model regarding the coefficients were examined, it was determined that the variables gender, age, alienation from work, parental approach, and burnout were significant predictors. Among these predictors, it was found that the strongest predictor was alienation from work, and the weakest was the parental approach. However, it was found that the perceived organizational support variable was not a significant predictor.
