An analysis of Behiç Ak?s children?s books with regard to naturalistic intelligence

The aim of this study is to associate the naturalistic situations in Behiç Ak?s children?s books with naturalistic intelligence. For this purpose, the traits of naturalistic intelligence were identified through literature scanning. These traits were classified and the list was shown to three experts and the research scale was finalized in the light of their opinions.Research material consists of Behiç Ak?s books written for children. Twenty-one books by the author were analyzed according to the prepared scale. The items in ?classification? group which are: ?he recognizes the living things in nature and knows their features? and ?he categorizes the living things according to their similarities and differences?, were found to be the mostly used ones. In the analyzed books, priority was given to `knowing and classifying? the living things.It was found out that numerous examples were given in the framework of ?awareness? in the analyzed books. Very few examples were found concerning the item ?human beings think about the reasons for the existence of mankind and of their own.? In the study, it was concluded that minimum emphasis was put on ?love of nature.? Therefore, ?love of nature? was less used compared to the others.In the research, the dimensions that were used in each book were also analyzed. And the traits relevant to naturalistic intelligence were mainly found to be in ?Ayşe?nin Bulut Projesi? and ?Dikkat Su?.
