Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine the exercise addiction (EA) levels of Physical Education and Sports High School (BESYO) students and students studying in other faculties (OF). The universe of the research consists of all the universities in Turkey and, the sample consists of the students studying at Siirt University, BESYO, and other faculties. As data collection tool, the personal information form was created by the researcher in the first part, and in the second part, Exercise Addiction Scale (EAS) was used by Tekkurşun Demir and his friends. (2018) The data were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 package program. Descriptive statistics and frequency distributions were calculated to determine the personal characteristics of the participants. As a result of the Kolmogorov Smirnov test performed to determine the normality distribution of the data, parametric test assumptions were not met, as a result, Mann Whitney U test for binary variables and Kruskal Wallis H test was applied for more than two variables. As a result of the research, when the descriptive values of exercise addiction of the participants are examined, it is seen that both BESYO students (x̄=52,2430) and other faculty students (x̄=55,2470) are in the dependent group. It is seen that Physical education students ( x̄=22,3347) and other faculty students' extreme focus and emotion change sub-dimension scores were in the low-risk group (x̄=23,3825); In the sub-dimension of postponing individual-social needs, both BESYO students (x̄=16.4433) and other faculty students (x̄=17,0000) were in the normal group, and in the tolerance development and passion sub-dimension, both BESYO students (x̄=13.4741) and other faculty students (x̄=14.8645) are in the normal group. While there is no significant relationship between the other faculty students and the age variable, the development of tolerance and passion sub-dimension (p<0.05) between the exercise addiction of the BESYO students and the age variable, and the development of tolerance and passion in favor of women as a result of the analysis made between the exercise addiction of the other faculty students and the gender variable. There is a significant difference in the subdimension, but there is no significant difference in BESYO students. As a result of the analysis made between exercise addiction and the family income variable, it is seen that there is a statistically significant difference in the overall score of the scale and other sub-dimensions, except for tolerance development and passion sub-dimension; As a result of the analysis made between exercise addiction levels and faculty variable, in all variables except the sub-dimension of delaying individual-social needs; as a result of the analysis made between exercise addiction and grade level variable, the total scale and all sub-dimensions; as a result of the analysis made between the exercise addiction levels and the variable of having an athlete license or not, in all variables; as a result of the analysis made between exercise dependence and weekly exercise frequency variable, the total of the scale and all subdimensions; as a result of the analysis made between exercise addiction and daily exercise duration variable, the total of the scale and all sub-dimensions; as a result of the analysis made between exercise addiction and the purpose of doing sports, in the dimensions of excessive focus and emotion change and delaying individual-social needs.
