Abstract (EN)
Turkish handicraft tradition has survived to the present day; industrialization, education life, needs such as various factors such as updating itself by updating its existence. While handicraft education is mostly given by professional instructors whom we call masters, there has been a handicraft tradition among women and women have played a role in the transmission of tradition by developing themselves as much as master teachers. The handicrafts that women see as social activities and that they do in order to perform the tradition of preparing dowry are seen as the product of cultural memory. Beypazarı district of Ankara has been chosen as an exemplary area with the view of both handicraft tradition and dowry culture. Different age groups, young, middle-aged and old, were interviewed about handicrafts and dowry tradition. With the questions directed to the source persons, it is planned to determine the knowledge about handicrafts and dowry tradition, to what extent they can learn and transfer the tradition, their role in the transfer of tradition and whether they are aware of the tradition. With the study, the role of women in the transfer of intangible cultural heritage and the tradition of handicrafts, which is a product of women's folklore, were evaluated. The data obtained from written, oral and visual sources were examined from a symbolic point of view and attention was drawn to the transfer of culture, although the culture continued to update itself and comply with social needs, it was determined that some cultural elements were forgotten and suggestions were presented for the revival of the forgotten elements.
