Abstract (EN)
GOLDEN HORN PİERS AS AN ARCHİTECTURAL HERİTAGE AND İN THE 19TH CENTURY ROLES IN THE INDUSTRIALIZATION OF THE GOLDEN HORN VALLEY From the 15th century to the 21st century, the shores of the Golden Horn were used as a summer resort. This place, where people enjoy boating and use as a recreation area, lost this function during the industrialization process (in the 19th century), while its natural structure was deteriorated. When we look at the engravings and manuscripts, it is seen that the Golden Horn is decorated with palaces and mansions, and there are gardens on the back facades of these mansions and palaces. Many local and foreign travelers and scientists describe in their works that there are magnificent vineyards and gardens in the region. In addition, it is seen in the pictures that the coastline extends by making recesses into the sea. Although some studies have been carried out to open the estuary shores, which have been filled and flattened today, to the use of the public with new regulations, they have not been very successful. Today, with the Golden Horn sea and coastal areas, which were quite magnificent and very popular in the past, told by language and poems on which were written, unfortunately, in terms of use, they cannot fully meet the recreational needs. In the Golden Horn region, one of the oldest settlements in Istanbul; The fact that it is always the center of attention due to its natural structure, historical, social and cultural values and changes in the open areas on the coastline has been effective in the selection of this area as a sample area in the thesis study. The fact that the historical places located behind the coast of the Golden Horn Region and the projects implemented are not handled holistically has resulted in disjointed results. The aim of this thesis; It is an examination of the piers of the Golden Horn in terms of architectural and cultural heritage from the Ottoman period to the present.
