Effects of World War 1 on German expressionism

In this study; the relationship between the phenomenon of "War and Art", which has a significant place in human history, is studied. The dilemma caused by these two phenomenon in practice is handled by the perspective of artists. In 19th century; how the changes in socio-cultural life caused by Industrial Revolution affected art along with the social movements in World War I era is studied from the perspective of German Expressionism. Artworks by the artists of expressionist movement which come out in the first quarter of the 20th century and shaped by the products of artists during the war are evaluated. The face of war on art is examined with the works of the artists from that period. Information about the life of the prominent artists of German Expressionism Otto Dix, Käthe Kollwitz and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner are given and one work of each are analyzed.
