Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to compare whether there is a difference between the 13-18 aged young girls whose parents have been divorced and the girls who live together with their parents, in terms of eating habits and to evaluate how many of them come up with the clinical diagnoses of Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa. In addition, the impact of the young girls' ages, the number of siblings they have, their birth range, the education levels and the marital status of their parents on the girls' eating attitudes have been analyzed. The research has been carried out with randomly chosen, 13-18 aged 60 young girls going to high-school in the districts of Bayrampaşa, Avcılar, Bahçelievler, Başakşehir, Halkalı, Beykent, Bahçeşehir, Florya, Bağcılar, Ataşehir, Kartal, Beykoz, Acıbadem, Acarkent Gaziosmanpaşa, Şişli, Topkapı and Beyoğlu in İstanbul. Eating Attitude Scale, Anorexia and Bulimia symptoms questionnaires have been used as data gathering tools. Personal information form have also been generated in order to determine the socio-demographic features of the young girls. According to the socio- demographic results of the research, 20.0% of the young girls whose parents are still together and 56.7 % of the young girls whose parents had been divorced had the possibility of developing eating disorder. Any statistical significance has not been obtained from the research, by means of the parents' socio- demographic features such as their levels of education or income. In the research, the group which has a diagnosis of eating disorder has been found more likely to develop more Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa than the group which did not have any diagnosis of eating disorder. Based on the findings, necessary suggestions have been made to the researchers, the counseling psychologists studying in the field and to the parents on the discussion part.
