The research on the relationship between organizational commitment and job satisfaction of branch teachers (Zonguldak sample)

This study aims to investigate the relationship between organizational commitment and job satisfaction of branch teachers in Zonguldak. The study group of the study consists of 325 volunteer teachers (161 female, 164 male) in the fields of Physical Education, Turkish, Mathematics, Primary School class, Visual Arts and English, working in schools of Zonguldak National Education Directorate in 2018 – 2019 academic year. The demographic information form, the organizational commitment which was developed by Allen and Meyer (1990) and adapted to Turkish by Karagüzel and the Minnesota Job Satisfaction scale, developed by Weiss, Davis, England and Lofquist (1967) and adapted to Turkish by Baycan, are used as the data collection tools. Mean, percentage and frequency analyzes are used in the analysis of demographic information. Since the data are not distributed normally, nonparametric tests Kruskal Wallis, Mann Whitney U and Spearman correlation tests are used. Data are analyzed with SPSS 22.0 program and the significance value is taken as P <0.05). As a result of the analysis,for the teachers' job satisfaction levels; while no difference was seen in marital status, age group, professional and institutional seniority years we see in gender and branch types. For the organizational commitment levels of teachers; while there is no significant difference according to age group, professional and institutional seniority year, significant differences are observed according to variables of gender, marital status and branch type. In the analyzes done between the organizational commitment and job satisfaction sub-dimensions, statistically low level positive relationship is seen.
