Abstract (EN)

This study aims to uncover the impact on wheat and barley producers and assess their responses to climate change in the Yalvaç district. Conducted through face-to-face surveys, primary data from 116 participants were randomly selected using stratified sampling and distributed across strata using the Neyman method. Employing a Likert scale, the study assessed producers' knowledge of climate parameters. Analysis via SPSS, including descriptive statistics, chi-square, multiple correspondence analysis, constraint index, and binary logistic regression, was performed. Results showed producers, with an average age of 46, predominantly male, high school graduates, and possessing an average of 22 years of agricultural experience. They attributed decreased wheat and barley yields to climate factors such as drought, insufficient rainfall, frost, and temperature increase. Faced with these threats, producers implemented adaptations, including changing crop types, adjusting planting and harvesting dates, and deciding to actively follow meteorological information. Binary logistic regression revealed that variables like experience, agricultural credit usage, age, and income influenced farmers' choices in climate adaptation. The constraints index highlighted "lack of knowledge about climate change adaptation measures" as a major concern. Producers expressed a desire for increased government support, including enhanced access to climate information and regular training on managing climate impacts. These findings will guide Yalvaç district agricultural policymakers in enhancing producers' resilience against climate change.
