Abstract (EN)
The Republic With the proclamation of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, various regulations, renewals and developments have occurred, and laws and new practices serving this purpose has emerged. Basically, with the goal of 100 per cent literacy within a short period of time in every region of the country, in line with the plans determined by the Ministry of Education schools of various types and projects are being built, centres of knowledge are rising while initiatives to revitalise Anatolian villages in particular realised. The new design of the school buildings is accompanied, in particular a competition for teachers graduated from Village Institutes to work in villages organised, resulting in school buildings with three different plan designs, has become a plan type built all over the country. Burdur Province, which entered the Republic with an existing educational staff, witnessed intensive construction activities in line with the plans sent by the ministry during this period. In this context, while many schools were constructed, school buildings from the Ottoman period were also used for a while. It has been determined that a total of 23 schools and 2 independent teachers' lodgings in Burdur province and its districts between 1923-1950 have survived to the present day. All of these schools were built in accordance with various type projects constructed simultaneously with other provinces. All of the surviving school buildings were located in villages and accordingly, it was observed that the majority of them were built in the cold climate plan type designed for teachers graduated from Village Institutes. Most of the surviving school buildings in Burdur are in an idle state today due to reasons such as the transition to transported education due to the decrease in the village population since 1990. School buildings, which are among the public buildings, should be re-functionalised as soon as possible in accordance with their original and nature and should be brought to the public.
