Hand image as a metaphor in contemporary art

This work; It deals with how the hand image, which has been discussed in art from the beginning to the present and is the subject of the works of many artists, is represented by new approaches that emerged in post-modern art. Within the scope of the subject; In the context of the crisis of representation in contemporary art after 1960, it is extremely important to consider the hand with a new approach and to present it as a metaphor in different disciplines. In this context, it is aimed to determine and investigate how the Hand as a representation tool is presented as a metaphor in contemporary art practice with different materials and techniques apart from traditional representation forms with a conceptual approach. For this purpose, the hand-related works of the artists were obtained from written and printed sources by qualitative scanning method. At the end of the survey, it was determined that many artists have worked on the subject and that they have created works with a narrative language suitable for the period by taking the hand as a metaphor. The identified works were classified according to the metaphors they dealt with, examined and evaluated according to the periods. As a result of the evaluation, it was seen that the hand image was presented with a new and contemporary approach at the conceptual level.
