A qualitative study on the measurement and evaluation of employee's labor law (LaborLaw No. 4857) literacy levels: The case of Aydın province

The biggest and perhaps the most important part of human life is working life. Employees who know their rights and how to seek their rights when their rights are violated will be more comfortable than others. In the study, it is aimed to measure and evaluate the employment law (Labor Law No. 4857) literacy levels of the employees. Based on the general question of the study, easy to understand, open-ended 21 questions were prepared. The study consists of 3 main scales: knowledge level 9 questions, labor law and life 7 questions, union life 4 questions. 3 union members from each business line, working in different positions and positions in a total of 8 centers operating in Aydın province, Efeler district, including 3 education, 2 accommodation and 3 health, 3 a total of non-union members 18 employees were interviewed. Obtained findings were analyzed with thematic method. As a result of the study, it was evaluated that 64% of the contributors were literate in the awareness level and 36% were literate in labor law at multiple and various levels. Considering that the preferred literacy level is multiple and various literacy levels, it has been concluded that the labor law literacy levels of the contributors are not at the desired level. Based on the fact that the contributors with the desired multiple and various literacy levels are union members, it has been evaluated that union membership has positive contribution to the labor law literacy level.
