Abstract (EN)
This research has been carried out as a field study to determine the effect of the personality characteristics of insurance sector employees on their work commitment levels and burnout behaviors. According to the findings of the research conducted with 168 insurance sector employees, the commitment levels of the participants were "high", the emotional exhaustion levels were "low", the depersonalization levels were "low" and their personal success levels were "moderate". In addition, the relationship between personality traits, burnout and commitment to work were examined. Accordingly, the level of commitment decreases as burnout increases. As self-discipline, open for improvement, extraversion, and compliance levels increase, the level of commitment to work increases. As the neuroticism increases, the level of commitment to work decreases. As the levels of self-discipline, extraversion and compliance increase, burnout and its sub-dimensions; emotional exhaustion and depersonalization decreases. Besides, there is a positive relationship between burnout and neuroticism, as burnout increases, the neuroticism also increases. There is no relationship between openness to development and burnout. According to the results of the analysis about the effect of personality traits and burnout on commitment to work, it was seen that neuroticism negatively impacted the commitment to work, whereas it was positively affected burnout. As a result, it is possible to say that there is a negative relationship between burnout and commitment to work and that neuroticism affects commitment negatively, while it increases burnout. Therefore, in order to increase the commitment of employees to work, it would be appropriate to take measures to reduce burnout levels.
