Sociologic assesment of the legends of the çan region

In this study, the effects of 38 legends collected from 65 villages of Çan county of Çanakkale on the lifes of the inhabitants of that region have been presented.Composed of 5 sections,in this study;In the introduction part various definitions of Legend have been made and Legend has been compared to other types of literature.The effects of the messages of the legends on the behaviours of the inhabitants, told in the region of Çan, and the saturated message have been determined.During these assessments, ?the message index? method of Muhsine Helinoğlu YAVUZ has been used.Accordingly;A-Ethic Messages B-Sociologic Messages C-Psychological Messages D-Economic Messages E-Other MessagesBeing under 5 main and 26 sub-headings, totally 147 messages have been determined.In addition, To present the sociologic effects of legends better, the texts aforesaid will be evaluated with the method of ?Social function of Legend? by Prof. Dr. Bilge SEYİDOĞLU.1-Being conservative to tradition2-Legends set a course to society3-Giving a meaning to places where they occured4-Protective and curiative actsIn addition, According to the ?function theory? of Prof. Dr. Paul MAGNARELLA, Legends?;1-Spirutial Function2-Creation-Divination Function3-Institutive Function4-Practical Function properties have been determined.ABSTRACTIn this evaluation, It has been determined with examples how the legends of Çan region sociologically effect and manipulate the traditions and the behaviours; briefly, the life of the inhabitants of that region.
