Abstract (EN)

The main reason that kept the states alive for a long time was military force and its organizational structure The Ottoman Empire tried to establish its military force on solid basis, from volunteer soldiers to regular and reserve army in the period from establishment to collapse and in during depression period the empire gave importance to military reforms to renew itself. In XIX century Redif military organization troops were formed to help the janissaries called Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammadiye whica was established to complete the military gap after. Removing the janissar, which was the biggest obstacle for reform movements. The aim of Redif was to have reserve soldiers who were sent to their hometown after being in military service for five years and they could continue agricultural and commercial activities until they recalled in the period of military mobilization. Redif military organization which was established in 1834 gradually regulated and became a successful part of the Ottoman Empire. The study research called "Redif books records of who were born between 1292(1875) 1294(1877) in district of Iskilip, Çankırı, Alagöz village" gives both social and military data by examing two different Redif books. According to presented information, data are given about the soldiers' villages, their neighbourhoods, family names, marital status and families.
