Karst geomorhphology of the area between Çermik-Çüngüģ (Diyarbakir)

The area between Çermik and ÇüngüĢ (Diyarbakır) is located in the southeastern Taurus belt, northwest of the Diyarbakır basin. The research area is a laboratory area in terms of karstic conditions and karstic melting forms. The formations in the study area are of Paleozoyik and Cenozoic age. The oldest rock groups of the study area are Koçali and Karadut complexes in the Jurassic-Kratse age range. The youngest formation of the area is the Lice formation in the Lower Miocene age range. Formations where karstification conditions are common in the field are Fırat, Gaziantep and Hoya formations. However, karstic shapes were developed on the Euphrates formation, which consists of pure limestone. Neotectonic processes that stared in the middle of Miocene and continued to the present day, the arabian plate in the South pushed the Anatolian plate towards the North caused the faulted and fractured thurst systems in the southeeastern Taurus belt. These movements alsı made tehe limestones in the field abundant and fractured, which accelerated the development of karstic mekting patterns in the field. The study area is one of tehe places where rainfall conditions are high between tehregions located North of the Diyarbakır basin. Precipitation, temperature, hydrography and vegetation conditions were other important factors in the fieıld Yeniköy polje, the Fly Creek Canyon, Hoya Canyon Valleys, Yeniköy Sinkhole, ElifuĢağı strait and popy Mountain Fairy Chimneys can be conuted. As a result of the investigations made in the research area, the researches were carried out within the framework of the karst field and the natural environment human relationship and the agricultural potential of the field and tourism were evaluated.
