Abstract (EN)
Folk culture and literary texts have been a source of inspiration for our contemporary literature. Particularly Çukurova is seen as an important source that the authors have consulted to reinforce their narration with its myths, folktales, tales and rich local languages in our contemporary literature. Çetin Yiğenoğlu, a writer from Çukurova, has largely benefited from the cultural elements of this region as well. Especially in his novel "Haydar'ı Öldürmek (Killing Haydar)", he wrote his own epic novel being nourished by the mythological sources. Folkloric elements have been used successfully and local language has created a natural narrative atmosphere. In this study covering both folklore and contemporary literature, examination has been made by adhering to the discipline of folklore. However, it has also been benefited from the yields of contemporary literature. The study consists of four main sections: In the first section, it was informed about the life of Çetin Yiğenoğlu, his journalist and activist identity, his authorship of novel and short story, the way he use the material and moral cultural elements in his novel and its purposes in general terms. In the second section, short summary of the novel and general information were narrated. In the third section, being determined the elements of folk culture in the novel of Haydar'ı Öldürmek (Killing Haydar), some motifs of folk literature elements were sampled such as tales, folk tales, myths, mold lyrics, local and archaic words, mythological elements. In the fourth section, some information was given about the folkloric elements in the novel such as beliefs, traditional way of life, livelihoods, religious rituals etc. vii To show how rich sources of Anatolian culture has affected our literature and to draw attention to Çetin Yiğenoğlu's retransmission of many local words have tended to be forgotten in our language constitute the main goal of the study.
