The effects of local administration and public's sensitivity on the prevention of environmental problems: The case of Alanya

Changes and developments in social life most affect the environment and consequently environmental problems appear. People's environmental behaviors, environmental sensitivity, and environmental attitudes play important roles in solutions of environmental problems which has been going on from industrial revolution to nowadays. In addition, the ability of local administration for solutions of environmental problems has important effects on prevention of environmental problems. Beginning with this approaching, the aim of this study is to measure environmental behaviors, environmental sensitivity, and environmental attitudes in Alanya, a district of Antalya, and examine the relationships between these variables. Furthermore, it was aimed to determine the perceptions of the effect of local administrations on environmental problems, and all those relationships were investigated. Results revealed that there were significant relationships between environmental behaviors, environmental attitudes, environmental sensitivity, and perceptions of local administrations. In addition, the independent variables such as environmental sensitivity, environmental attitudes, and perceptions of local administrations had positive effects on the dependent variables, environmental behaviors.
