Abstract (EN)

In this Study ,It is aimed to compare the cartoons out of the children programs in terms of values education. In this research, two branches of qualitative research methods; descriptive content analysis and screening model has been used. Screening model is a research approach that aims to describe a situation, as it is, which is available at the present time and in history. The case, person or object that is research subject in screening models has been identified, as they are, under their current conditions. (Karasar, 2009: 77) The main reason for the use of content analysis is to investigate the presence status of specisific words or concepts in a text or group of texts. In addition, informations which have been reviewed through descriptive analysis are exemined more with content analysis and concepts which can?t be realized through descriptive analysis can be revealed as a result of content analysis. Researcher reviews ,evaluates and reaches a conclusion about the text by looking at the number of the concepts in the text, their meanings , their relationship with eachother and the emphasis of concepts and expressions (Şencan,2005). In this Study, an open ended questionnaire which has been prepared to determine the cartoons that children most prefer watching, has been applied to parents of 250 pre-school students in primary schools and kindergartens located in Uşak city center. As a result of the data obtained ,the most watched three local made and three foreign made cartoons have been determined. Determined local made cartoons and their watching ratings: Pepee(% 89,2), Keloğlan(% 84,4), Nane ile Limon(%18). Determined foreign made cartoons and their watching ratings: Caillou(%78,8), Marsupilami(% 38), Laura?s Star(%30). The specified values to be scanned in the cartoons became definite as a result of the questionnaire which has been prepared by taking the curriculum into account and conducting with 11 preschool teachers. The text has been written by the researcher after watching the random parts of the cartoons which have been determined as a result of the datas. In the cartoons which have close length of time and parts of which have been randomly watched, 13 out of 15 scanned values have been found. These values are love, respect, tolerance, cooperation, fairness, diligence, responsibility, cleanliness, honesty, benevolence, giving importance to the unity of the family, giving emphasis to be healthy and sharing. The values of patriotism and peace can not be found while watching the parts of cartoons. It is described in detail in the results section, in which cartoon, how many and in what way the scanned values are given. Keywords: Cartoon, value, values education
