Abstract (EN)

In our study, we aimed to examine the relationship between Cormack-Lehane Classification, which is the most determinant test of intubation difficulty before general anesthesia, and the measurements obtained using ultrasonography (USG). The study included 100 patients with an ASA I-III risk score between the ages of 0-6, whose operation was planned under general anesthesia. Age, height, body weight, Cormack-Lehane Classification, Pre-Epiglotic space (EPI), thyroid cartilage (TC), anterior commissure (VCA) of vocal cord, posterior commissure (VCP) of the vocal cord hyoid bone (HYO) was recorded. These parameters were studied to examine the relationship between the classification of Cormack-Lehane. Cormack Lehane classification Grade III and above were determined in 9 (9%) of the patients. No statistically significant relationship was found between Cormack-Lehane Classification and VCA, VCP, HYO, EPI, EPI / VCP ratio and EPI / VCA ratio (p> 0.05). TC measurement with higher than 0.38 cm Cormack-Lehane classification was found to be higher than those under 0.38 cm (p = 0.027; p <0.05). VCA/VCP ratio with higher than 0.31 Cormack-Lehane classification was found to be higher than those under 0.31 (p = 0.044; p <0.05). Although TC and VCA / VCP values obtained by ultrasonography are considered to be preferred primarily because of the statistically significant significance in predicting difficult intubation, no clinically superiority over the Cormack-Lehane classification has been demonstrated.
